BJD fit guide

BJD wig and eye size guide for safer accessory matching.

The safest accessory path is measurement-first: head circumference for wigs, eye diameter for eyes, body measurements for clothes, and foot length for shoes.

BJD wig size by head circumference

  • 5-6 inch BJD wig: Small heads and tiny dolls. Confirm exact head circumference before buying.
  • 6-7 inch BJD wig: Many YoSD or compact dolls. Common for smaller 1/6 and some smaller 1/4 heads.
  • 7-8 inch BJD wig: Many 1/4 / MSD dolls. Check if the head is small or large for the scale.
  • 8-9 inch BJD wig: Many 1/3 / SD dolls. Common full-size collector range.

BJD eye size by doll scale

  • 8-10mm BJD eyes: Tiny or narrow sculpts. Good for smaller eye sockets or realistic looks.
  • 12mm BJD eyes: Many 1/6 / YoSD dolls. Use when the sculpt recommends 10-12mm or 12mm.
  • 14-16mm BJD eyes: Many 1/4 / MSD dolls. Check iris style and eyelid opening.
  • 16-18mm BJD eyes: Many 1/3 / SD dolls. Common for expressive larger heads.
  • 20mm BJD eyes: Large or stylized heads. Avoid if the socket is not designed for it.

Accessory fit order

  • Choose the base doll first.
  • Match wig and eyes before final face styling.
  • Check outfit and shoes after body measurements.
  • Add stand, care tools, doll bag, or props only when needed.

1. Head circumference is more reliable than scale

A 1/4 BJD can have a smaller or larger head than expected. If the product lists head circumference, use that number before choosing a 6-7, 7-8, or 8-9 inch wig.

2. Eye diameter changes the face mood

BJD eyes are measured in millimeters. Smaller eyes can look more realistic. Larger irises can look more anime or stylized, but the socket must still fit the eye.

3. The next fit risk is clothing

After wig and eyes, check shoulder, chest or bust, waist, hip, sleeve length, and foot length. This matters more than the label on the outfit alone.

Wig and eye FAQ

Reduce mismatch before buying accessories.

Should I choose BJD wigs by scale or head circumference?

Use head circumference first. Scale labels help, but dolls in the same scale can have different head sizes.

Can I use larger BJD eyes for a more anime look?

Sometimes, but only if the eye socket can hold the size. Eyes that are too large can sit badly or make the iris look oversized.

What should I check after wig and eyes?

Check outfit measurements, foot length for shoes, display stand needs, and care tools before adding optional bags or props.
